Could you give us some information about the tank? Size, how many fish, and where's the leak? I don't know it commercial sealant would work or not if applied on the outside, but someone else might.

The only way to ultimately repair the tank will be to drain it, let it dry, and then place it on a flat, level surface atop some newspapers. Then slowly fill the tank to find out where the leak is.. Once you know this, you then dry the tank, take a razor blade and cut the bad section of silicon out, and clean it up real good with rubbing alcohol. Follow the aquarium sealant's instructions on sealing the spot, and then let it sit to cure for 48 hours. Back on the newspaper and another slow fill to find out if you've done a good job. If so, let it sit for a few days just to make extra sure. Once you've found no leaks, you're done
