I had a fish go missing just a few weeks after starting up my tank, I could not find it anywhere ... the poor thing got sucked up into my powerhead. I have since added a quick filter onto it, wished someone had told me that before the accident.

as said above check your filter.

but i've i was a betting man my money is on the crab. when your fish are 'resting' at night they make easy prey for the crab.

sorry about your loss.

thanks for the tips guys,

Im actually at work (miss use of IT?) so I'll check out the filter tonight.

My boyfriend made me buy the crab cause he thought it was cool,

bit sad now, & I guess colin(the crab) will eat my baby guppies when my remaining Mrs Guppy gives birth....

poor fishes.

I am a bad mummy.

Yes, it's possible that the fish died & was eaten by the crab & other fish. Just look in the filter & in the sunken galleon boat.

I have had a 'missing' red eye tetra, it just dissappeared! I have a red claw crab in my tank, however he never showed any interest in the fish even if they came close.
Filter (fluval 4) had no signs of it, no signs in the substrate (gravel).

I suppose the logical explanation is the nauty crab!

But no losses since.

Now I'm missing two green neons !!!

I got them yesterday to replace the guppy. Was frozen food (lance fish) in the tank so noone had any reason to want to eat them.

I have a condestion tray & a hood, they are not in the filter or the boat & I cant see any left overs!!!

What the hell am i doing wrong?

Try and separated the crab from the fish. If you don't have them disappearimg, then its the crab. My bet is on the crab. Night comes and it a smorgasbord there in the way of fishys. And when the mother guppys has her fry, not only will the crab eat them, but so will the rest of your fish including the mother. If you want to save your fry, then the mother should be in a separate breeding tank, where the fry falls into a bottom section where even the mother can not get to them. Its called a fry hatchery.
