You can keep it until it gets maybe 3 inches in a 10 gal or 5 inches in a 29 gal. Any more and the fish will get stunted. |

Yes, you can keep it in the 10g for the time being. Just keep up with water and filter changes, and have a plan to move it up to a larger tank, or to trade it in for another fish when it grows a little more. If there is an Aquarium society in your area, you might want to see if they have auctions or exchanges; this is a great way to find a bigger home for your loach when the time comes, and get something that will be able to enjoy for a longer time in your tank.
