How frequently have you been doing water changes Rather than one large water change, smaller more frequent water changes may help. Lights off for one day isn't going to be enough....A complete blackout with the tank covered to combat any outside light for a few days may help...and of course stop all ferts/co2 for the time being.^_^ ![]() |

I DONT HAVE A TEST KIT.So i dont know what the water is like. I get my water tested at the pet store. I have a 50g tank 36" long 16" wide 18" high I have 6 rosey barbs,4 corys,2 angels and 1 bristlenose Ty |

However, the problem may actually be the water. Phosphates, for example, are basically a fertilizer for algae that can be present in tap water. Something I have found to help green water is proper aeration. When I first got an air pump the difference was quite amazing to what it had been before. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I dont use chemicals often but in that case it did the trick. You should post what kind of fish are in your tank though (the product I used will kill crustaceans)and is it planted? Try a natural approach first. Also try to find the cause, or it may reoccur. My tank was set up for a year then I got the algae bloom and havent had one since, never found the cause. Also that was the second product I tried the first by jungle labs did nothing. Good luck. sorry I was typing this up as the other posts were going up This obviously wont work with plants.
