I like the sound of the rams and cardinals. You could expand on that idea and create a South American tank. You could add some of these: other peaceful cichlids (like a angelfish), corydoras, a pleco (like a BN), maybe some hatchet fish...the list goes on

Do you want cichilds? Maybe you could get a pair of convicts. Or some african cichlids.

I'm partial to the South American setup.

I like the rams and cardinals idea. Maybe you could add some cories to the mix as well and have a relatively peaceful South American biotope aquarium.

Well Chris, rams and cards are both pretty IMO. Is there anything else you're interested in? I suggest you go to your LFS with a piece of paper, and write down anything else you're really interested in. Then maybe we could help you plan out your stocking list from there. G/L

it's tough, i am planning on a planted 75usg discus tank in the near future and i already have a tank with electric yellow's(african) and a breeding pair of kribs, so my list of wants is growing short.

i really wanted to do angels but is the tank tall enough for angels and would there be enough territory for a pair of rams and a pair of angles?

i also like some gouramis and some barbs and tetra's. i know i want 1 group of schooling fish but not sure on the rest.

I would go for a pair of rams, 6 cardinals, and maybe hatchets and cories. I wouldn't stick a pair of rams and a pair of angels in a 30. Angels can get mean when breeding. And be careful on barbs, i would strongly recomend not getting tigers barbs with angels or rams. Maybe cherrys but they don't look as nice as hatchets, or cardinals. And if you get hatchets get marbled, i love mine. Good Luck
