I had something similar, neon that belly grew, until last night when it is back to normal this morning. If she was pregnant, where do neon's like to lay eggs and what am I looking for?

Mine are in a comunnity tank with a school of 9 neons.

i think it might just have been a bit of bloating. because my penguin tetra looked the same and on all the sites about them it said they look like that just before they lay eggs. but thismornin they are all back to norm.

Years ago, I used to have a school of black neons that spawned regularly in a large planted community tank, but the eggs never even hit the gravel, they were consumed like relished caviar by all fishes in the tank, even the other neons... The females got plump, but not grossly so. The only one that got grossly fat died, perhaps was eggbound, not sure as I did not attempt a necropsy.
