I went out to acouple stores looking for pure ammonia to help cycle my tank. I bought the one that seemed to be the "purest" When I shake there are some bubbles, but not too many. The only inregredients other than ammonia are "quality control agents". Do you think that this is safe to put into my tank? thanks

bubbles will form in anything, just from the shaking (mixing air and liquid makes bubbles ) So the important thing to look for is if the bubbles pop right away, or hang around. They need to pop right away for it to be safe, like as soon as they hit the surface.

"Quality control agents" I'm not sure about, sorry.

I personally wouldn't use it. Actual pure ammonia shouldn't contain "quality control agents", it should contain ammonia and water on the ingredient list and that's it. It would also typically say "Pure Ammonia" on the bottle somewere. There is no real notion of a "purest" ammonia; in this context, either it's pure and good to use or impure and shouldn't be used.

In your shoes if I couldn't feel confident that I had pure ammonia I would just cycle with one or two fish.

EDIT: "Instantaneously".

I fishless cycled my 55g tank and the ammonia I used had the exact same ingredients list as yours. I promise it is perfectly fine

What you're using should be fine, but in the future, you can just get ammonia from Wally World...
