When you move him to a bigger tank, I still would only keep the one puffer. But a few other fish like maybe tiger barbs or some other active fish would be good mates for him. |

I'd get at least a five. You'll need to do weekly 50% water changes. The general rule for dwarfs is 1 per 2gal. You could get 2-3 in a 5gal(I would put only two) Tank mates can be otos and shrimp. I would not put them with barbs. Be sure to cycle tank before adding them, they are extremely sensitive to water quality. For more info, visit www.dwarfpuffers.com. Kim |

However I do know, with puffers, that their personality has a big impact upon how aggressive it will be. Mine was very peaceful and did not nip any of the other fish in my tank. I did have one puffer which was a little git and was an avid nipper, so he went back on the same day. I really think keeping the lil guy in a 2 gal would be difficult to achieve, unless you do regular water changes. Best of luck whatever you try, and hopfully youll get a 'nice' one! ![]() |

Yes you can keep one dwarf in a 2g but only one. And if you do you would have to do very very frequent water changes as dwarfs tend to be messy. You would also have to cycle the 2g. Seems like too much work so if I were you I would just go with a 10g. |
