I have a few 2.5g tanks and a 5g sitting empty, I'm looking for possible stocking ideas. The tank wouldn't be filtered and there's no heater but maintains a temp of 74-76°

I know the obvious choice is a betta, but could I have something like an ADF or some sort of crab? Or anything else?

How about Apple/Mystery snails? I can sit and watch mine for hours. Yes, I have no life.

Maybe a couple of Red Clawed Crabs and some White Clouds. The crabs wouldn't need any dry land so you could maintain maximum water content.

NO FILTRATION EQUALS NO FISH.

i'd probably suggest a crab of some sort that utilizes both land and water...

African Dwarf Frogs would work well too

I'd go with ADFs. In smaller tanks, with little to no fishy activity, the ADFs really come alive. When I'm in front of the tank, all three of my frogs come hopping towards me. They look at me and start biting at the front glass. I guess that's their way of saying "FEED ME".

Without filtation, I'm not really sure how manyyou could get. But I wouldn't go more than 5 ADFs in the 5 gallon and 2 in the 2.5 gallon. Just to be safe.

My vote would be planted with some ghost shrimp or some other invert. That size tank would be nice with some java fern or moss, and maybe a marimo ball or 2. That size is really easy to light with a desk lamp (flourescent of course).

Wood/Vampire/Singapore shrimp are awesome, but being filter feeders they need some kind of movement in their water. They get about 3" long and live for a few years (as opposed to a few months for many of the smaller shrimp), and change color (mine is brown during the day but green at night, with a bold yellowish stripe down his back).

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
