Top grade Asian aros can go for up to $75,000, but there have been koi that have sold in excess of $1 million.

I'd bet the arowana's not the longest living, but I can't be 100% sure...

The record Koi has been proven at 226 years old using scale dating. Carp live a long time.

Check the Bottom Feeder Frenzy forum for khuli loaches robby for better info on them, and most of our specific tank information is contained in our profiles...

As for the longest living fish, I'd bet the arowana's not the longest living, but I can't be 100% sure...

Come on Koi, that's not even in the running then...

Most expensive I've seen for sale here in the middle of nowhere is a $3000 Black Tip Reef Shark...

Never heard of the $1 million koi, but it's definitely a possibility...though that better be a cycled tank...

Silly, no we keep them in ponds with 5k filtration systems. A koi that expensive would typically have his own indoor pond, or if it is outdoors it would have security measures. The most expsensive Koi I have lost was only $500.00.

Freshwater fish will get the opposite of thirsty, they actually have to get rid of water instead of taking more in as long as they are submerged. Water will attempt to move from the greater source to the lesser source. Fish in a tank are the lesser source, so the water's actually attempting to invade their bodies the entire time.

As for expensive fish, I've heard of arowana going for upwards of $100,000 a piece. Never heard of the $1 million koi, but it's definitely a possibility...though that better be a cycled tank...

saltwater fish get thirsty and have to get rid of less water than they take in, like terrestrial animals.

No, fish do not get thirsty. In fact, freshwater fish are constantly fighting to rid their bodies of excess water. Corydoras are actually very common fish in most countries, you can try this link for information on many different cory species: http://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/fishfinder.asp?key=corydoras&salinity=&family=&geographic=&ecosystem=&temperament=&diet=&size=&waterregion=&lifestyle=

Dwarf Pygmy Gobies aren't commonly sold, however Bumblebee Gobies are, and so IMO they take the cake as aquarium fish.

All of the largest freshwater fish in the world are obtainable, so obviously they would be the largest freshwater aquarium fish, despite their inappropriateness for 99.99999% of all aquariums.:%) Arapaimas are actually quite easily obtainable now, for just over a hundred dollars. It's lucky CITES registration is necessary, otherwise these fish would appear regularly in fish stores alongside Silver Arowanas.

Flowerhorns are REALLY expencive, usually 2 or 3x the price of an arrowana.

Maybe a Silver Arowana, but a high-grade Asian Arowana can cost thousands, way more than 2 or 3x the price of a Silver Arowana.

There are many colorful freshwater fish. Many of them come from the Lakes Tanganyika, Malawi, and Victoria, though not so much Victoria since they introduced African Perch that ate all the cichlids. Peacock Gudgeons, Boesmani Rainbowfish, and others are also quite colorful. Congo Tetras have scales that can refract light to the colors of the rainbow.

The biggest aquarium fish is prob a species of arrowana (gets to about 8 or 9 feet on AVERAGE) and is commonly sold in aquarium store
