thought about them, but the profile says they like water a little alkaline, about 6-6.5. my water is about 7.2 to 7.5

What you want are dwarf loaches Botia sidthimunki, they are small, fun, cute and love eating snails. If the snails are large they might have problems eating them but eggs and babysnails will be erridicated within days.

They can be rather hard to come by though!

Clown loaches will get too big for a 29 gal. Another option would be to put a slice of zucchini or cucumber in the tank at night, your pleco will love it. In the morning take it out, you will find snails on the vegetable so you can get rid of them.
