| snails! then white worms?!? | |
exu![]() Hobbyist Posts: 68 Kudos: 43 Votes: 1 Registered: 12-May-2004 ![]() | So i started a snail jar a while back with a bunch of pond snails. just a gallon jar that I tossed a bubbler in ad change the water about once a week. So far this has worked nicely. I put in lettuce and all the loose plant material i get from 2 heavily planted tanks. took a few weeks but the snails prospered and I have a now constant supply of tiny snails for my puffers. Well now i have loads of little white worms in the snail jar as well. they seem to eat on the lettuce along with the snails. and they are very active swimming around the jar. I found that by grasping a piece of plant or lettuce with a large pair of tweezers then dipping this into the puffer tnak, giving it a good shake, dislodges anough snails for a feeding. Well this is how i found that the worms love the lettuce too cause tons of them were floating around in the tank too! The puffers went nuts for them and chowed away. I have also been feeding these little worms to my community tank and all the fish in there seems to go crazy for them as well. Just cusrious as to what these little critters are and if they will harm anything. Thanks! [span class="edited"][Edited by exu 2004-07-11 22:10][/span] |

Where they wont harm your fish, again its a sign that your tank is not up to par and needs a gravel Vac.....When you get to this point your Fish usually arent in very good water conditions....In your case, you dont have fish in your Snail Jar and shouldnt be a problem.....They have become an extra good source for your other tanks....But make sure they are getting eaten and not spit back out in your other tanks.....I havent really heard of fish actually eating these worms, Usually recommended to Regulary Gravel Vac your tank... |
