Overstocked.

There isn't really much to say..but it does depend on the individual tank. What are your nitrAte levels.

Also tiger barbs are VERY active fish..IMO a 10 gallon doesn't give them enough room to swim, especially not 10 of them.

First of all welcome to the site!

I agree with babel, very overstocked. The fish that can fit in the tank are the platies and cherry barbs. The giant danios grow 3.5 inches and the tigerbarbs 3 inches.

If you take the fish that will grow too large, you can add another cherry barb (to make a pair) and then another fish, something like a dwarf gourami.

I agree with the other two replies, it's definitely overstocked.

Even if they're small now, a 10g doesn't have enough swimming room for the barbs or danios. Also, most sites list max size for giant danios in the 4-5" range.

Are your platies same sex? If so, two is fine. Otherwise it would be best to add another female or two to keep the stress from the male down.

I have seen giant danios about 5" in length in a 30-gallon tank and they definitely didn't have enough room to swim around. Take them back as soon as you can. The tiger barbs also get pretty big and not too suited for a 10-gallon tank, especially 10 of them. I agree you can have a pair (or even trio) of the cherry barbs (and they'll be very happy!) and you could even add a small solitary fish like the dwarf gourami (or in the absence of tiger barbs or danios, which are e to fin-nipping, a betta would look great with cherry barbs...) The platies should be fine in there especially if they are the same sex. (if not, the male will harrass the female and she will become stressed and e to illness). Cheers for at least getting the tiger barbs in a group, even if you weren't aware that they weren't an appropriate size for your tank.
