I can see hints of color in them that look like they could be improved upon... my question is does anyone have any tips for improving their color? as far as diet and stuff? also, right now I only have 3 of them with the intention of getting more... they are in a 10 gallon which eventually I would like to get a pair of blue rams for, so it would be just the rams and rainbowfish. how many should I get? I know they are not really a schooling fish (i think) but how many more rainbows do you think would be good to finish off the stocking on this tank? I wish i could fit an oto in there for algae but i think that would totally max out my bioload. |

As for more rainbows, yes you could add several more of the threadfins. As for the color and such, are they male or females? The males will have the longer fins, and the females will have shorter fins and much less colors. Foods, well I am partial to the high quality foods, such as frozen brine, crushed Tetra Pro tropical crisps, and live foods, such as white worms, daphnia, ect. All these will help increase the colors of these fish tremendously. They will spawn easily on spawning mops and live plants. The raising of the fry are what is difficult. HTH...... There is always a bigger fish... |

Is it hard to tell? by looking at them right now I would say 4M/2F I will pick up some more various food items next time I am at the fish store, right now all i've got is nutrafin color flakes and freeze dried bloodworms. |
