I have a paradise fish that i believe is full grown now. I have heard that they are capable of being trained to jump through hoops, so i was wondering if anybody has any ideas of how I am to go about training it to do so. Thanx

Well, first of all, hopely the paradisefish has recognized your presence as meaning something like "Food is coming!". Your approach should then get the fish's attention, which is a good thing.

If you want to train the fish to go through a hoop, one of the first things you need is a hoop. The hoop should hopefully be of an obvious bright color; fish generally distinguish colors rather than shapes, as this is how their brain works. So, getting a hoop, probably of a color such as red, you would put it at the level you wish the paradise fish to travel through. Though it's perhaps possible to train a fish to jump through a hoop, it's easier to just train the fish to swim through the hoop.

Placing the hoop in the water before the paradisefish, you should begin by placing a little bit of food on the other side of the hoop. Don't put too much or the fish will become preoccupied with eating. Anyway, make sure the hoop is only visible to the fish when it can swim through and get food. At the beginning you should start with just making sure the fish will swim through the hoop to get food that you've placed before it has. Later, you can see if the fish swims through the hoop without food on the other side yet.

...

Well, at least, that's something of what a book I read seemed to summarize, but that was a few years ago since I read it.:%)
