i've had the awful feeling that a fish was getting eaten in my tank..

2am, a big splash, followed by a smaller splash.
needless to say the angle fish had taken care of all my neon tetras. funny though. he didn't eat the glolites.

I am a light sleeper. I wake up for virtually any sound, and particularly disturbing to me is the fish-jumping type splashing noise...

my 46 gallon is in my bedroom, right next to my bed. i actually run a fan in my room to block out the lapping noise of the bio-wheels. (white noise v. real noise) the only thing i've woken up to has been the yo-yo loaches causing trouble, usually jumping right into the plastic covering on the back part of the top of the tank. they're small but man can those guys jump...

one more thing though: i've never woken up to this, but as i'm going to sleep i can tell when the bio-wheels have stopped. usually i have to concentrate on the fan noise to block out the lapping noise - but when i start drifting off easily, i know something is wrong with the wheels, either the flow is too light or too much water has evaporated.

Back in the saddle!

i've woken up in the middle of the night to find one of my eels in the filter!! They jumped up into it and just laid in there.

I had an aquaclear 500, and without the carbon, there is a lot of room in there, so they would jump into there and chill.

my tank is in my bedroom and runs parallel to my bed, now the smart thing to do would have been to set the filter etc up at the opposite end to my head, but no im not that smart :%) although my canister filter makes pretty much no noise, our neighbourood is soo quite that even if the bioballs or ceramic thingos move a bit i can hear it. The worst thing ive woken up to though, was when my betta (which sleeps next to my bed, on my badside table) jumped out and lukily landed on my face..... nuthing like a slap in the face with a wet fish

We have had 4 power outages, and I've woken up each time because my filter stopped running on the tank in my bedroom. Not only have I awoke each time, but my roommate, who doesn't even LIKE the fish, has woken up to it each time and helped as we got them all started again...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

One day I was dreaming about one of my fishes jumping out of the fishtank.... I was strangely frightened when I woke up and found one female guppy just have jumped from the tank...

Two months later, even though I saved her, one of my fished had eaten her. What a luck!!!

i voted yes, i havent actually woken up but it has kept me from falling asleep. One of my tanks is in my bedroom and if the water level is low or the filter is clogged i absolutely can NOT sleep until i fix it, even if I have already taken my sleeping pill and gotten in bed and turned all the lights out and everything.

I woke up at 3 am one morning when my big dali print fell vertically, straight down off the wall and hit the media box on my aquatech mini, smashing it to bits. Somehow the filter was still running and dumping 150 gph of water all over the floor. I was NOT happy. ]

It's strange how you can hear something "not happen" in the dead of night. However, I have installed one of those emergency night lights that goes on when the power goes out and lasts for a good 90 minutes. I don't sleep well with lights and if the power goes out in the middle of the night, I know about it

When power flickers in the middle of the night, my Emporer 280 sounds like it's burping. This happend a couple weeks ago and woke me out of sound sleep. Something was loose from a windstorm.

Well I was lucky. There was a power failure and my sump tank almost overflowed. Fortunately the sound of the fan shutting off jolted me awake. It's pretty warm over here even in the night.

I answered yes, becuase I can always tell when something is wrong with a tank. But, I have never woke up a sound or something while sleeping.
