Hello,

Went down to my lfs & got two fisg for my 125g (uk) tank. But I cant remember the name - can anyone help me?

Freshwater, currently about 2.5 inches long but will grow to about 10 inches. Kinda creamy colour, maybe white with a hint of yellow, no paterns or spots or stipes. not long like a guppy more height, but quite skinny face on. quite shy at the moment but they have only just moved in.

Their name had two words.

Thanks for the help.

Anita.

No, there aren't really any other names for the gold severum. Since you were looking them up, here are some sites for you:
http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/gseverumm.html
http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile22.html

The care of these fish is the same as with the green severum. I hope you enjoy them, they seem really cool!

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Heros Severus. The gold is just a color phase.

They're pretty cool, very aware. I've got one big one (7.5 inches, they only get about 8 inches btw) and it seems to look across the room at the tank with 2 smaller ones I just bought.

Once they get bigger they get orange on their fins and face.

Have fun, Mike

Great, another Severum lover. Some of my observations:
Use lots of furnishings in your set up. They will use these to stake out territories. They will dig when courting, making nests in the gravel. They love crickets and can be trained to take food from your hand (watch the finger tips though). Some sites put their max size at 12 inches but the largest I've seen was 8 inches. Anything it can fit in its mouth it will eat. Aside from the occasional cricket snack I feed cichlid pellets, Tropical Crisps, frozen and freeze dried shrimp and live ghost shrimp. They also nibble at the zuchini and cucumber I feed my pleco. Compatable fish are anything big enough not to be eaten and will not nip fins or turn overly aggressive. My severums tend to ignore the other fish in my tank. Good luck!
