i came home today, to find out that somehow my hoplo catfish had a rubber band around its neck-body area. (shows how bad it is to polute the waterways) i managed to take it off without causing him problems, and he is settling in fine now, he kinda busted up his fin while he was trying to get free byhimeself.

what is the weirdest thing that happened to ur fish.

also i am still wondering how a small rubber band got into the tank.

A couple of years ago my silver shark jumped out of the tank when I was giving it a clean and somehow managed to jump into the goldfish bowl!

A while back, when I still had my common pleco, he had grown pretty big and he didn't know it, and he got himself wedged between the skeleton and the treasure chest that the skeleton leans up against. I had to push the skeleton forward (almost breaking it) to free him from there. Wonder what woulda happen to that dummy if I hadn't come along and noticed he was stuck???

I have a false SAE that loves to hide in a conch shell. Well, a few years ago I was cleaning my tank, I had assumed that my SAE had died and I was looking for his body so it would not pollute the tank. I lifted his favorite shell out of the water and WHOALA, he plopped out of the shell and fell into the tank. He was almost completely see-through from lack of light. Amazed to see him alive I continued to clean the tank nad then had my boyfriend hollow out the inside of the conch so as to reduce the chances of him getting stuck. Till this day he still retreats to his shell when he is not eating or playing.

Unfortunatly for me I decided to buy an otto cat from my local ***Mart. On the way home my roommate, who was holding the bag, noticed it was zooming all around the bag. I stopped for a red lite and then it just went plop Fish are really sensitive...

This was my fault:

I had a shipwreck ornament in my 55g and my yoyo's liked to hide in it and under it. Well I was taking it out one day because I got new plants and was arranging them. I shook the ship to make sure no one was in it and nothing came out so I took it out. Well I did my planting and was cleaning up and looked in the box where I had the ship and was throwing pieces of plants away. I lifted up a leaf and something moved. One of my yoyo's had been in the ship and was now in the box. I screamed so loud and ran to get a net so I could put him in the tank. He had some red on him that I guessed was blood from getting out of the ship but other than that he was fine. It scared me to death...I never put that ship back in and never will have anything else like that in my tank. I'm glad he lived though...he had to of been in the box for atleast 20 minutes.

Hey...
You know When you step on a garden rake And it comes up and whacks you in the face,
Well it happened to me but with an khuli loach
The Day before I had put two new khuli loaches in,
But unknown to me one of them has jumped out and was dead
I sat down on the floor(the tank was at floor level)
I put my hand on the dead khuli's Tail,
And it's body Went up and whacked My arm with it's Head spines!
I screamed at the top of my lungs!
That really freaked and shocked me,
My freinds thought it was really funny,

I was moving a large tinfoil barb from a 5 gallon bucket to a large tank. While in the net it opened it's mouth and I clearly heard "No, No". I figured that it was trying to gasp the air and that's what came out. Anyways, it freaked me out.
I've had silver dollars regularly play dead, while being caught. They just lie down and look at you with one eye without moving...then bam, they are up and alive!

Had a large boesmans rainbow get completely jammed between two pillars of a small plastic replica if the parthenon once, it was absolute hell getting him free. The parthenon was consigned to the bin.

Hahaha that tinfoil barb story is priceless. The one thing that really freaked me out was when i used to work early on sunday mornings, I thought id get up and wash the car, so there I was bleary eyed on a totally silent morning washing the car and I heard a faint crumbly gravel noise, I wondered with my slow morning mind what it was for a minute or so. I looked up and saw rolling down the middle of the road a small hamster in a rotaball making its bid for freedom. Not a soul was around other than me and the hamster.

Trippy.

Not to my fish per se, but one day I came in to my room and found a large (~6" ) garden slug crawling on the glass of one of my tanks (in a second-story bedroom)...
