Any one know what this stuff on my rocks and plastic plants might be, and how to get rid of it? I suspect blue-green algae, but it is black-green if you ask me. It started out at brown-green actually. It seems to change colour as it goes through its life cycle or something. :-) Sorry for the picture quality. It seems to come off in big flakes once it is black. :-(

Does it look almost like it is hairy? Also, is there any way you can get a fairly regular picture of the tank in which maybe we can see it clearer? Sorry, but the drawing representation ends up not being too helpful...at least to me...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

If that feels like a really dense short haired fur it would be what I have on a piece of lfs gravevine driftwood. I was totally over it so thought I would reboil the wood. Two hours later, it's still there. Tough stuff what ever it is. I now have it in a clean plastic trash container soaking with erythromycin. Day two on that and some of it is gone but most of it is still there. I am going to toss the wood but I am curious as to what it would actually take to get rid of this stuff. Good luck and sorry I can't help you out.

No its not hairy, I think. It is a very thin layer. I'll do some proper pics yeah. I notice it gets stipped off now and them... lo and behold, my cory cats eat it.

I get that on my rocks, too. I just turn the rocks over periodically and it diappears... the other side of your rock will be quite clean...
