| what should I do about the filter? | |

I would suggest as stated above, get a sponge filter pad, wrap it around the intake to the filter, and use rubber bands around it to hold it into place. Just watch it closely, as it will become full of detritus fast, and need cleaned when it does, so as not to damage your filter. There is always a bigger fish... |
