hi guys
I picked up a 20g tall today for a decent price, then spent more than i did on the setup on plant substrate

anyway, i'mm gonna plant this tank well, and i'd like to get a pufferfish for it. now the first (and last) time i had a pufferfish i had it less than a month (and it was totally my fauly but now i'm slightly more educated (thanx to FP ) i wouldn't mind trying another puffer. so, i'll give you an idea of what i want and you guys can suggest an appropriate species.....sound good?

as i said, it' got to go in a 20g tall tank with o.k filteration....not the best but i'm working on that. i would like a species thats fairly hardy (cause i'm not known for my stringent water changing schedule ) but also able to mix with my batik loach (if thats possible) oh, did i mention FW only? can't think of anything else right now. i would prefer something slightly bigger than dwarf puffers BTW

oh yeah, and any sugestion on making the aquascape puffer friendly would be gr8

thanx guys

F.T

to be perfectly honest, if this is the case then I'd stay away from puffers. they are very sensitive fish that require very clean and oxygenated water. 50% weekly water changes are usually recommended for most puffers and if you aren't able to stick to this type of regimen your water could quickly foul and stress or kill the puffer.

I've only had dwarf puffers. You could definitely keep a few in a well-planted 20g, along with some otos.

This]http://puffernet.tripod.com/species.html[/link] is a good link for specific species info and [link=here is a like of potential puffer tankmates.

Really, regardless of what fish you keep regular tank maintenance and water changes are important

Please go to this site: http://www.thepufferforum.com

It will give you all the info you need about puffers.

Word of warning!! Puffers need a lot of attention. These fish are full of personality but need to be taken care of very well!!!

This includes -- weekly 50% water changes, doing almost all cleanup yourself (puffers are messy eaters!!), feeding only live or frozen foods, and snails to keep your puffer's "teeth" under control.

Puffers are GREAT fish...I love mine so much!!! But I wouldn't do anything before checking that site and doing some research to make sure your little buddies are happy!!!

Good luck!!!
