Racso's gonna kill me for posting this, but here goes

This might sound a little confusing, so stay with me.

In one of his 29g tanks racso has (or HAD, as the case may be) lyretail mollies, 3 platys, 4 angels (1 large and 3 2 inches or less), a green sword, 3 red brick swords, a flame gourami, a pearl gourami, a rainbowfish, and an african knife (not all of these were in the tank at the same time).

Is it just me, or is this a bad thing? Of the above listed, a platy, the rainbow, a small angel and both mollies, possibly even a gold mystery snail have died. Their bodies: MIA (except the angel and a molly, but both bodies were mauled pretty badly. I know bodies are picked at, but they had just recently died when we found them). I say it's the knife. They all seemed perfectly healthy then *poof* gone without a trace. I really think the knife is the culprit, but he INSISTS it's not and refuses to get rid of it. Am I right, even though he's the "expert" and I "don't know a single thing" (I don't know much, but I don't get any credit for what i do know)? Please help! Either set me straight or help me convince him to rethink his stock. T'anks!!!

lets ad some facts here, the mollie and angel's bodies were pale, and the fins were NIPPED as in being dead and nipped. They had to of been dead for a while by the looks of them, not just recently.

The african knife is also only about 5 inches MAX right now and not full grown and I HAD plans to move it but those changed.

They had 40 BGK's in a tank at the lfs once...about 5 were dead... The bodies were picked clean of all the meat...My guess is the BGK because I've seen them do that....then again lots of other critters will do that too (dojo loaches and crayfish in my experience so far)...

but its not a Black Ghost Knife, its and African Knife that is only three inches long (i measured today). I can understand if it ate small fish at night, but the angel that died was way too big to fit into the knifes mouth, and the mollie.... well, i've never had luck with mollies.

It would have to be the Knifefish, I doubt it killed them but it would attack them at night especially if he saw them as free food. The BGK was a comparison (I guess)because they are both Knifefish and will act similar. All the other fish would only attack other fish if they where dead or dying. IMO anyway

BGK may as well be a comparison... I'd assume that they act similar...

it's probably the knife. even though it's still small, they can be mean. they get really big so i hope you have plans for when that happens. a 29 gallon won't last too long.

OH FUDGE!!!! As many of you know, racso s angels. Well I was just at his house and I found his roughly 3 inch (mouth to base of tail) altum angel dead

He is literally going to kick through a door, or poop a brick, or punch a hole in the wall when he finds out. Most likely all three

There isn't much we can do to help you, sept hope he keeps his aggression to inanimate objects. Sorry.

Angels can be tricky sometimes. I suggest you tell him over the phone and be no where to be found when he gets home.

As for who knows more about fish....well you have more stars. Racso

In the same breath, I own a BGK and as long as every one stays outa his home he is ok. I would guess that given the chance to eat a dead fish he would though. My guess is it was the clown that tore up the dead fish, but didn't kill them, as Racso said they were white. Fish have to be dead for a wile for this to happen. I'm also sure that Racso knows that he will need a new home for the clown eventually (asap).

I have kept knife with neons and they wont touch it unless i didn't feed her before the lights out

So I think you should keep the knife, before lights out feed it and then see the results.

I doubt it was the knife, but then again I could be wrong.

Its an african knife. And BTW, it wasn't an altum angel, i have no idea where she got the idea i had an altum in anything other than a specialized tank.

OH, AND!!! BTW!! WHO HAS MORE STARS????

Anyway, yeah, i need to make a post because my angelfish are all dying in that one tank and I have no idea what is killing them, tomorrow i'm going to do some water test to see what i can see then make another post.

Sorry bout the clown thing, it had been a long long day. I don't know why I was thinking clown knife.
