Well as your tank stands now you wouldnt be able to get any, your allready over stocked. By clowns do u mean clown loachs? If so, then you will have to take those out. Also, you would have to remove probley the archer. If you did that then it would be possible for 2 dwarf puffers, or maybe 2 fiqure 8 puffers. Some debat that the fiqure 8s are brackish but its all opinion.

I would suggest that the puffers remain in a species only setup. You will run into 1 of 2 issues putting puffers in community:

1. The puffer with nip everyone else and stress them to the point of death or just outright kill everything else. Much depends on the decoration setup that would allow the puffer(s) to establish their own territory.

2. The other fish may outcompete the puffer for food if they are already established in the tank and are voracious. I have read before that smaller and quicker fish have eaten the food before the puffer on a regular basis.

Who's opinion? How about tried & true fact? I have a friend that has been keeping pufffers for over 40 years. During those 40 years he has tried to keep F8s in FW & BW. The FW ones were stunted, had problems w/eye & skin dideases & couldn't get them to live even 10 years. The ones in BW lived 18+ years, w/no disease problems at all. They were kept as singletons too.

As far as the origional Q, archers grow to 12" & are BW, so are the gobies. The "clowns", if loaches, also grow to 12". So you're going to need to split these fish into larger FW & BW tanks. You could keep the gobires & F8 puffers in the 30g, but it needs to be brackish.
