Let me know if you think this would work or if you think something else would work better. The only fish that absolutely has to be in the tank are the dojos...beyond that, i'm pretty flexible Thanks in advance! Two dojo loaches 3 (or 2?) angel fish 1 pleco of some sort 3 (or 4?) rams some sort of larger schooling fish? group of some sort of smaller loach (zebra, yoyo, kubotai) |

You could go with 4 Rams, and 3 Angels, and I would stick with the yoyos. I just like them more. As for your school Glow Light Tetras? Just remember to go slow with stocking to allow your bio filtration to keep up. Last edited by phoneshannen at 25-Sep-2004 16:18 |

I am not shure about the larger schoolers either. As for the rams, make sure you have plenty of plants for them in the tank to feel safe which may be hard with the dojoes.I say 2 angels because from what i have observed, 2 angels will pair and then the odd one out will be bullied. |

They are indeed a compatible fish. I realize you seem to think they need to be kept ONLY in Cold Water. However, all of the Dojo/Weather Loaches we keep in our aquariums these days are Bred in Captivity, and raised in Tropical Temperatures in farms in florida, burnaby- BC, California, and the like. They have been born and raised in temperatures of 76F or higher, and will do just fine in those temperatures. I have 3 Dojo Loaches in my 90g tank at a temperature of 80F, they have been in my warm tropical tanks since they were just little slips of a loach, and are growing, healthy, and breeding non As for the stocking plans: 2 Dojos 2 Angels 4 rams I would say you could do Yoyo Loaches, Queen Loaches, Kuhli Loaches, Zebra loaches, Polka Dots. All are happy in groups, probably a group of 4 would be good. As for a small school of fish heres a couple of suggestions: Pristella Tetras- like to hang out in groups in plants very pretty with their racing stripes and red tails. Glowlight Tetras- also a great tight schooler with excellent colors and habits. Hatchetfish- a top swimmer that would definetly accent your stocking options and would enjoy the same water conditions as the rest of those fish. White Cloud Mountain Minnows- Small, schooling, very peaceful, colorful, and has beautiful blue eyes. Rummynose tetras - Also a gorgeous fish, with great schooling potential. Do Nots- No Neons. Angelfish would love to snack on neons, and in a LFS I recently saw 2 angelfish chase down a Cardinal Tetra and rip it apart, so maybe not a good plan to attempt those either, but many others swear that cards and neons are fine with Angelfish. My Angel snacked down 4 neons before I could move them out of the tank to a different tank, and my breeding pair of angels just recently made short work of a mature Penguin Fish that was heckling them, so be careful as to the smallness of companions for Angels. I havent noticed Glowlights to be a problem, they tend to school tight and not drift much, therefore not a good target for an Angelfish. Hope this helps, Koran. I know that the question of whether or not dojos can live in warmer temperatures is a concern...but I have done my research on them and have had these two for quite some time with no problems what so ever..they are very active and eat heartily ![]() Thanks again for all the help!! You all gave me a lot of great ideas as to numbers of species and types ![]() |
