Hey everyone.

I saw a very colorful fish at my local fish store that was labled "Red Fairy Wrasse". It was about 3"-4" long and was $56. After I went home, I researched it and couldn't find any fish that had the common name Red Fairy Wrasse. From my research, I concluded that all Fairy Wrasses are peaceful, rather easy to take of, and don't get any bigger than 6" or so. First question: Is this true?...Second question: Should I buy this fish and put it in my 70 gallon FOWLR with a Cinnamon Clownfish, a Coral Beauty Angelfish, a Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish, a Foxface Lo, and two Sea Urchins? Thanks. Please reply!

"Red Fairy Wrasse" brought up quite a few hits on Google, so you may want to check there, Greg.. I also found you this article at WetWebMedia, and if the wrasse you found isn't listed there, I'd be surprised:

Good Luck with it..

Thanks Oleta. I looked at that site before and thought the fish was Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus. So, I looked up other photos of Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus and they looked quited different. Could this be because male and females look different?

all your research are true, they stay small (less than 15cm), easy to take care of...but theyaren't totally peaceful, when they eventually become established in the tank, they will harrass new tankmates especially those that are less aggressive and with similar shape...such as other wrasses and hogfish...so take a note of that
