A friend of mine no longer want his 75usg reef tank and was letting it slip away. So I gave him $200 for his entire set-up. Right now I have all the LR and corals in 32usg tubs awaiting the arrivial of their tank. This will be my first attempt at salt but I have been reading alot.

Right now my water temp is 75F degrees, ammonia, nitrate and nitrite are all 0, and the salinty is right on (cheked w/ refractometer). Here are some pics.

It`s kind of hard to tell because the corals are not looking to great because of the move but they should look better once they get in the tank. Pic number one almost looks like a Kenyan tree coral

Pic no. 5 is a branching coral of some type. It needs to come out a little more for me to be able to tell. We will be able to tell better once they are in the tank and have good extension.

Pic 4 is not looking too great health wise. It almost looks like it is bleached pretty bad. Might be

As I said these are just guesses till I can see them with full extension.

2 is a kenya tree as mike said
3 is a yellow finger leather
4 I agree is a very poor looking pocillopora. It's probably more than just bleached. Looks like there has been tissue loss.
5 is a torch coral I believe. Another possibility is frogspawn.
6 is another finger leather or maybe colt coral.

All are relatively easy except for the pocillopora. Probably why it's not doing so well. I'm having a bit of a rough time with mine.

my friend got tired of dealing with the tank so he has not done much with it over the last few months. that's why i took it off his hands. I was not even supposed to get the corals from him so if I can keep any alive that's great. I was really not ready to take them on just yet. Right now they are in 32 gallon tubs on my floor and will probably be there for a few weeks due to the fact I have not picked up the tank yet and I will be getting married at the end of the month. I will do my best to take of them and will post more pics when everything starts looking better.

I cannot wait, for tonight I go to collect the tank, stand and fuge from my friend. Soon to be wifey wants the tank mostly up and running by next friday, so I have a week to get my butt in gear.

Can anyone give me some ideas of how they prepare and store top off water and fresh saltwater. I am looking for ideas to have the least amount of clutter as possible.

should I take the pocillopora out of the tub. right now there are two of them in about the same shape. I thought i once heard that if a coral was bleaching you should remove it from the tank.

The main thing as far as the coral is to get the tank up and running. The LR is still cured so hopefully you wont experience a cycle but I think you might experience a small one though so keep so fresh SW nearby just in case. As far as the water I would recommend a RO/DI unit and you can make your own top off and SW. I just make my top off water in 5 gallon jugs and SW in 5 gallon buckets. I not too much a fan of tap water. I dont know about your area but ours is high in ammonia and heavy metals. An RO/DI unit will eliminate those and other stuff in your water. Good luck on the set up.

He is a pic of nemo, just to prove he is still alive. He is hanging out with his friend the torch, or whatever it is, since it has not fully expanded it self yet. Though it did take a beating in trasnport last month.
