What lighting came with the tank? A halide pendant would be ideal IMO.

If there's sufficient lighting, go for a reef tank. A nice tall stack of LR in the center and veiwable 360, or at least from 3 sides, would be very cool.

came with 4x T12s not the greatest lights ever... im thinking ill pick up a good quality 10000k 400watt Halide possibly from the states and just use the T12s as Antics

stilll for the price i cant complain

going to try and run the sump mainly as a Refugium and have all my main equipment outside the cabinet not 100% sure on how im going to do this discretely might modify the cabinet abit to accomodate my filtration needs

this tank is either going to have SPS in the long run

sounds like you have a good idea of what to do with this tank....why were you asking for suggestions?

Looking at something like this when im done

Filtration
90lb LR
aquaC EV 180
10g fuge
little sand bed
DIY FBF

Lighting
400watt 10000k Halide
4x T12 Antics

Flow
4x Hydor Koralia 1200GPH
1x Surge Device Run by and aquaclear 80 powerhead
1x RIO sump pump 400GPH

Heating
200watt Jager Heat
Chiller of sorts

Other
UV
Calcium Reactor or sorts
DIY Kalk reactor

That is really long term though just going to start myself out with some live rock the aquaclear and the fuge

and maybe the skimmer if my wallet is feeling generous

EDIT: to see if anyone has some really good ideas i can steal

Tank and hood

Cabinet

In need of clean

Weir

Top part of sump

Close up

other part of sump

both together

i took these pics before i cleaned out the sump the cabinet still needs to be cleaned though and the reason the tank wasnt on the cabinet is because i thought i had enough foam at home for a 2x2 and sump but sadly i have to go and spend $3 on foam...and i never thought saltwater and tightass mixed very well lol

also do you have any idea how i should set the sump up, ill draw a diagram later of how it was setup before, i didnt think it was all that great...

also picked up and aquaclear 70 powerhead well its pretty old but i just took it out of its box yesterday lol and a jager 200watt heater my return pump is going to be a RIO 8HF which does at 0 head height 2300Lph not that impressive a brand or flow rate but you have to cut corners somewhere

Lookin' pretty good alex.

I gotta say the sump doesn't really seem large enough to set it up many ways. Looks like there's room for a return pump and skimmer and maybe some macroalgae in the first chamber area. I'd just get those bioballs out and do what you can.

I would maybe think of not using the bioballs and use LR rubble instead. Better biological filtration. But the whole set up looks nice. Can I ask how many gallons is that?

i think the system is about 75gal

going to split the sump up tomorrow giving me 5 separate sections.

sections
1 filter floss and bio balls or maybe some other cheap/free filter media i can find

2 some kind of biological filtration that wont require light...

3 fuge and dsb this chamber will also contain the heater and the pipes from the skimmer and the like.

4 some kind of biological filtration that may only need the tiniest amount of light to survive

5 return pump RIO 12HF decided im going to upgrade after seeing a RIO at decent head height lol

thinking i may run an old/very cheap canister off the fuge running activated carbon zeovit and some sponges that will apparently lower phosphate *has a thing for killing phosphate*

NOTE TO ALL SW HOBBYISTS: aqua one carbon both advance and standard leach phosphate into the water!!!

A day or two at the most.

I never bought live sand. It all worked out just fine.
