Theysaid to go with a tamato clown(pair), 4 green chromis, cleaner shrimp and a blue tang. I want to know if this would be compatible. Also someone said a blue tang could live in a 30 gallon tank?????? |

If you want a pair of clowns in there, pick on of the smaller types. That means stay away from Maroons, Cinnamons, and Sebae's. Go with maybe Percs, Ocellaris, Pink Skunk or Tomatoes. Always try to go with tank raised too. ![]() By blue tang, do you mean Powder Blue, or Hippo tang? Both of those are "blue" and fairly common in the aquarium trade. Powder blue tangs are ick magnets, and hippo's just aren't what they used to be since Finding Nemo came out. Either way, your tank is too small for both of them, so it doesn't matter much. As suggested, I'd recommend a minimal of a 75 gallon tank for either one of those fish. Blue/Green reef chromis are a bright and pretty hardy fish. They are schoolers though, and IMO they do pretty good in a trio. They wouldn't be my personal choice, but I think they'd be okay in your tank. It sounds more like the fish store told you what to get, as opposed to do you doing some of your own researching first. Are there any other fish you're interested in? Many dartfish and some of the smaller gobies and blennies would be okay in that tank. I love purple firefish and bicolor blennies, so that's what I'd suggest. Also, you may be able to get away with a smaller wrasse, like the six line, if you wait and get your pod population up. Just remember not to overstock b/c saltwater can't hold as much oxygen as freshwater can, therefore lowering the stocking ratio. ![]() Browse online dealers to expose yourself to many of the marine fish available in this hobby, and post back with other things you may like. I'd try: http://www.marinedepotlive.com http://www.saltwaterfish.com http://www.liveaquaria.com Hope this helped a bit. EDIT: To fix links...
