It creates the food (ammonia etc.) and the bacteria in your tank. Follow the dosing instructions and measure your Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. First you should notice the Ammonia rise, nect the Nitrite rises as well, then the Ammonia starts to fall. Last but not least, the Nitrate rises and the Nitrite falls. Then your cycle is complete. EDIT: That's what happens when you respond to the opening page link and not know (my fault) that you are in marine, but I assume the situation is just the same. Now I use it in any tank that I set up, because its such a help and speeds the process time up significantly. You can add it at any time, to any tank (they have both fresh and marine types.) A while ago my 55g underwent a very severe amonia spike for over two weeks (eniterly my fault for over-cleaning!) and I feared for everything alive. After spending (I kid not) over $500 in trying to fix the problem, I was desperate. A small fish store sold me some Bio-Spira and told me it would take care of my problem. And guess what? Within a day the spike was calmed down and no one died! I JUST set up a 175 gallon salt tank for a shark I am adopting, and I suspect that within a week I will be ready to transfer him into his new (significantly larger) home. Bio-Spira is my own personal miracle in a package. -Jelly |
