I got two Perc. Clowns last friday for my 29 gallon. It's cycled and all my levels are great. Right now I just have a HOB filter running and then an AquaClear Powerheads Model 301 (output 174 gph). I got a call tonight while I was at work from my roommate that one of the clowns had died, he was stuck to the powerhead.

Is that powerhead too big for the little guy(s)? Do you think it was just a freak accident? Just wondering what you all think

As well...Do you think if I got another, that it would be accepted by the other? Or am I pretty much taking a chance getting another?

The powerhead isn't too strong, I have two of those in my 30G for water movement and my small occ clowns do fine. He probably died, then got stuck to the powerhead. Either that or he was really weak and about to die anyways and just drifted into the intake.

It depends on how long you've had the other clown, if it's still young you might be able to get another one without much risk.

You should be fine getting another one. Try to get around the same size, and the larger will become the female.

Did you watch the fish eat when you bought them? Were they taking food in the aquarium?

My guess, if your levels are all okay (I cant say since you didn't post them) that it was prolly some sort of shock due to acclimation procedures.

Did you get ORA clowns?

Yes they were

prolly some sort of shock due to acclimation procedures.

I had them both for 8 days. Would the shock set in long before that

They both ate like pigs...lol...They would eat flake food, frozen brine shrimp. They were everything everything in site. I honestly was expecting them to be fat when they got a little older except the poor little guy didn't make it

Of course I wasn't over feeding them that much, I am over exagerating

I don't think I mentioned this but they both seemed REALLY strong swimmers. They were "playing" in the current of the powerhead the night before. So they definitely weren't weak by any means...I jsut think he was playing near the uptake and it was a little too strong

I honestly think it's a little my fault though. On the powerhead it has a little "coupler" that fits over the intake. I had it on the intake. Well if I wouldn't have had the coupler on it wouldn't have been sucking from one dime-size area. Thus, he wouldn't have gotten stuck So I have taken that coupler off so the remaining one is ok.

I would appreciate any thoughts
