Recently I have seen in a newly opened LFS with some premium LR for $15/kg. Some of have some hitchiked corals and macroalgae. I would like to ask what is the difference between the normal base rock and the premium stuff. Because I have seen normal LR with macro algae and corals, but one is labeled LR and one is Premium LR and with different prices.

Basically the premium would be cured longer. I guess if you want an instant tank its worth the doubled cost.

If your patient you may as well get the regular stuff, it probably all comes from the same place, and if you give it time it should look just like the premium stuff given good water conditions.

My tank has been setup for over a year now. Its fitted with a 6500K MH and a 13,000K MH (150watt) bulb. Is it ok if I get one piece of Premium LR with Lots of Macroalgae and place it in my tank and hope nothing on it died? I current have a bunch on macroalgae growing in the center of the tank, so if I add more macroalgae, do you thing it will survive?

I really see no reason why it wouldn't live. Just make sure not to add too much LR at a time though, you don't want to cause a mini cycle. It sounds like it should be good rock though.
