I have a new Eheim 2213 that I bought thinking I was going to do another freshwater tank, but have since decided to do salt.

Since I will be using live sand and live rock would a 2213 be overkill, especially since Ill be running a powerhead too?

The reason Im asking is I can take it back since it is unopened and exchange it for another filter (Aquaclear etc).

I have also read you dont want alot of biological filtration in your filter since the LR and LS will do that already.

Nope the filter would'nt be over kill though i would test your water every week just to make sure the filter does'nt go bialogical on you. Just because if your goona use LR then thats your bialogical filteration and your main sort of filter. With the ehiem i would clean it out every week just to make sure it does go bio.

what size of tank are you setting up? you will also need a few power heads.
