Been doing water changes and my ammo and nitrites are up but stable so far. Found some decent LR and at a decent price too ![]() ![]() The tank is now 12 days old. No deaths and no wildlife organisation is banging at my door with linching ideas on their mind. Starting a marine tank with fish... hum. Check this link to the FAQ of this very web site. Very informative ! http://www.fishprofiles.net/faq/sbegin.asp Happy new year to all of you!!! Sponge ![]() EDIT : Spelling Last edited by Sponge_Bob at 01-Jan-2006 08:36 |

Although damsel are very hardy no fish should have to deal with high Ammonia level it must be a very painful exprience and in most cases death |

Anyway, I got robbed!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will slowly add more LR when my tank is cycled. Do you think I should buy my tank a good quality bicycle in order to cycle more rapidly? ![]() Happy New Year to you and your loved ones ! Sponge ![]() PS : If I see my fish suffering, I will take them out of there. So far, so good. |

LR should only be added at a couple of KG's per time, any live bacteria should be able to handle this much to not create any spikes |

I already have 4 damsels in there + the addition of 11 pounds of LR. My tank is really not cycled. I'm trying very hard to maintain the ammo and nitrites at a "decent" level by changing water regularly. My water changes are dictated by my daily water tests. If my ammo gets too close to 1ppm, I change 30% of the water. When my tank is cycled and stable, I will add a LR at a time, say, one a week. That should be small enough to be handled by my bacteria colonies. All I can say is that it's pretty costy. With all those water change, the salt bag tends to empty itself at a pricy rate! ![]() Cheers ! Sponge ![]() |

Hum... Think of the possibilities... ![]() Seems like the ammo peak is done and now starts the Nitrite Hell. Ammo is slowly lowering. Gave my fish some Vodka to celebrate the New Year. Now I'm sure all those LR were not placed like that. Why is one fish diving and the others voting at the bottom of the tank? :%) Did I take my pills today? Sponge ![]() |
