Hey Guys!

I have a friend who's boyfriend just bought her a 90 gallon tank for their 2 year anniversary, and he wants it to be a saltwater tank, and I'm pretty sure she will too. It's not her anniversary yet, so she knows nothing about this

She knows a bit about fishkeeping, but she is definitely one of those people who sticks to her tetras, changes the water "when it looks funny" and adds her Waste Control and Cycle daily LOL

I've recommended various websites to her in the past, but unfortunately, she's computer illiterate and likes it that way. I would like to buy her a book on keeping saltwater tanks and fish, something good for a complete salt newbie. Can you guys recommend anything?

thanks in advance

Wow, I was just going to start a new post about this marine book I bought a couple days ago! I'm seriously interested in starting a salt water tank myself.

It's been an awesome read so far, and it's aimed towards first time marine tank owner. I would recommend it for sure.

Anthony Calfo and Robber Fenners "Marine Inverts"

It covers everything from start up, to fuges, LR and LS, and fish and invert selection too. A bit pricey, but well worth the read. That thing never leaves my side.

I agree with bala shark, I use that book to get me started as well, its called "The New Marine Aquarium" by Michael S. Paletta (haven't mentioned the name before)...

A more detailed book will be "The Conscientious Marine Aquarium" by R. M. Fenner

But I say "The New Marine Aquarium" will be an easier understanding book than the other one

The book by Paletta is also really outdated...

I agree with Ferret, the book by Calfo and Fenner is the best one out there that is current......followed by The Conscientious Marine Aquarium that is just by Fenner.

Just my opinion though...there are other books that are more "advanced", but they probably wouldnt be too good for a beginner....plus they are $100+ for each book.

Hey guys! I had a gift certificate for chapters.indigo.ca so I decided to purchase the book from there. They did not have "marine Inverts" But I was able to find "the Conscientious Marine Aquarium" so it is on the way I think I'll keep it for me and lend it to her LOL One of these days I just may want to keep salt, you know
