We got two of these critters at work and they're awesome. They're in a tank with some sand sifting starfish, so naturally the shrimp are pretty happy with that arrangement. These shrimp are crazy looking.:%)
Has anybody here kept or seen them before? I almost want to try them myself sometime.

The first time I found out about these guys was because they were on the cover of the Marine Depot magazine I think. They are really cool looking, I dont remember ever seeing them in person though I'd love to.

At work we had one in a 0.5 gallon nano reef right next to the cash register. People would look around in the tank and gasp when they saw the shrimp, and say how interesting it was. Oftentimes that reaction lead to the customers ordering their own specimen.

Yep, a half-gallon nano reef.

We just put hardy things in it like mushrooms and some macro algae... I think the shrimp was the only "real" animal in there though. We did water changes on it every day.

The harlies finished eating the sand sifters a few days ago, so I imagine that they're fairly hungry now. Has anybody been able to get them to eat something other than starfish? I haven't heard any accounts of this so far.

It's not really that hard to feed them if you work at the LFS... What I would do is search through the live rock when we got our shipments of it and pick out any small starfish on the rocks to put in the shrimp's tank.

Oh, I'm not worried too much about them. I can always grab a sand sifter from another tank and drop it in with the harlequins. I was just wondering if anybody had tried different foods with these guys.
