lawnmowers will not normally eat diatom algae.

How old is the tank, what lighting, how old is the lighting and what are your water parameters like? Flow can also allow diatom algae to take off if there isnt enough flow or nutrient export.

it is a new tank..2 weeks old..most probably it has just finished cycling.

caused from a bacteria bloom. generally disappears in another week or 2

Diatoms are natural in a new tank...you will most likely go through a diatom stage, then a hair algae stage, and more often than not that hair algae stage will be followed by a cyanobacteria bloom.
