Ok... I need to hatch some live brine shrimp b/c I didnt research the mandarin goby. Bought him after the idiot at the LPS said they eat algae...
but ne ways... Now it obviously isnt eating. Ive tried just about everything. Now Im doing live brine shrimp. Might be worth it.
Ive had these eggs in here for about a day and I just realized that they need to be at 80 degrees and there at 72ish... or lower. I just put the heater in... Is it too late for these eggs?

Brine shrimp, even newly hatched brine shrimp will not give the mandarin the nutrients that he/she will need to survive. Your best bet is to return the mandarin to the store or find someone else that has a large tank with a lot of live rock to house him/her in.

What size tank and how much rock do you have?

I have a 76g bow front. I have atleast 55gal of LR. Its been set up for about 5 months now. I tried to take it back but they dont do give backs and i cant find any other LPS that will take so that leaves me with trying to save it. Ive been reading around and that seems to have worked temporarily for some other people. I also tried cyclop-eeze but it didnt take it. Any ideas that can help me?

55 lbs of rock isnt that much rock at all, not nearly enough to support a mandarin. A refugium with Chaetomorpha algae, and a fauna/infauna booster kit from a place like [link=http://www.ipsf.com]http://www.ipsf.com" style="COLOR: #FF0000[/link] or [link=http://www.inlandaquatics.com]http://www.inlandaquatics.com" style="COLOR: #FF0000[/link] would help also with those additions....There are also companies out there now that are bottling up pods and selling them. Bottom line, its going to be expensive to make sure that your mandarin has an adequate food supply.

The store wont even take the mandarin back even though the employee gave you VERY incorrect information on the mandarins care/needs? Id try again and tell them what the employee told you when you were looking at the fish about what it ate.

I would go make a scene in the store and complain to a manager big time. If it is a store where you often shop then you probably will have some sort of a relationship with someone. In that case maybe that person can help you when you talk to the manager. That really stinks that people work in these stores are so misinformed!!! I hate when that happens!!! Good Luck with him!

If it comes down to it, bring it to a different store even.

Mandarins wont survive unless they've got like 75 pounds of seeded live rock...or if you can get them to take mysis and whatnot. Even if you can get him to eat live or frozen brine...that's still like feeding a baby candy. He cant live off of that unfortunately.

best of luck...keep us posted
