My juvenile (5cm) Long-horn Cowfish has recently developed a white, almost cotton-wool like, growth directly on the 'pupil' of its eye. It is behaving, eating and swimming perfectly well and doesn't seem iritated by the 'growth' but any ideas as to what it is or how to solve the problem would be most appreciated. Thanks

P.S Sorry if double posts are annoying but the posts in the Hospital Area all seemed 'freshwater' related.

It could be some kind of cyst or something. I don't know a whole lot about cowfish like their behavior what diseases they're acceptable to. I would contact my LFS and ask them and if you don't get any answers do a search on the net for what you just described. Other good fish reasearch sites are

www.liveaquaria.com and www.reefcentral.com (forums)

I'm sure other people will let you know of other descent sites for diseases or what not.

Here you go.

Go about 3/4 of the way down and they discuss diseases and fungus' they can catch.

Cheers for your help, it is much appreciated. I did ask my LFS and they too confirmed a fungal problem that was probably due to damage to the eye. Thankfully, the problem seems to be clearing. Thanks again
