i have a 75gal tank and i was thinking of getting lunar lights

They look to be common LED "night lights" and are usually pretty cool to see nocturnal activities of fish and inverts. Not a necessity, but a cool addition.

i think it probably just plugs in to a wall socket. but i cant be shure i think that would make the most sense.

I believe under installation instructions in the more information popup it says it plugs into an outlet.

Easy to install - just plug into a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) power outlet and plug Lunar Link into the receptacle

I also ordered one of these lights. Are they waterproof? If I mount them to the underside of my canopy they're definitely going to get wet.

No, you'll need to have some kind of shield protecting them from splashes and evaporation.
