Now that I've really screwed this up and have been a big pain in the butt...

Which aquarium magazine do you feel has the most information and help marine wise???

I gotta pick one out, and I dont know what to choose.

Thanks guys.

(And oh, FW people you can vote too, like Molly said, what do you skip over the most? )

Ah, here's one I can really reply to. Well, as mentioned in the other thread - PFK is just top-notch all around, but they really do a ton of marine stuff, and a lot of it's the type the US mags don't give space to - for instance, this month they have:
-A big giant Anthias article with lots of gorgeous photos
-The usual (great) "Ask the Experts" marine section (in PFK, even I read the marine stuff, but particularly this section)
-Breeding the common cuttlefish and the "Sea Hare"
-Build your own sump
-The monthly Reef Ramblings column
-Big goby article
-Great Reef Tanks series continues with "Inspired by Nature"

And I'd say this is a fairly light marine issue, 'cause it's pond month.

OTOH - to be fair, PFK is VERY expensive, and there are always pages of retailer reviews and ads that are useless for international subscribers. But on the whole, I'd give up every other fish mag I subscribe to (coughsixcough) and keep this one, if I had to make a choice. And I think the same holds true for marine stuff.

Although - isn't there an all-marine mag? I know there's an annual one, but isn't there a monthly?

-Molly

Voted Other

Coral magazine as its known to us is IMO the best magazine out there and is dedicated to the SW side of the hobby.

Subscriptions are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

From the two I receive Tropical Fish Hobbyist and Aquarium Fish, TFH is the better of the two...just my opinion, and I'm not into the Dark Side yet, but the itch is gonna strike I'm sure

Ah, thanks DRO...that's exactly what I was looking for. I wonder if I can get a subscription at borders.com considering I have a gift card and nothing to spend it on?

Actually...want to go to [link=http://www.borders.com]http://www.borders.com" style="COLOR: #3c4e82[/link] and make a suggestion on a marine book, that I don't already have? My library is growing; the den is turning into "The Fish Room." It's going to have big comfy couches and chairs positioned for viewing the reef, plus a poster w/ one of Calfo's quotes, and a nice space for my marine book collection.

I can't wait.

Sis...please please please let us drag you to the dark side? I wrote a nice beginners article...

*smacks head*

!!!

Like its German counterpart, Koralle, Coral offers support to the beginning hobbyist, as well as hands-on information for the more advanced aquarist.

Gah...I can't believe I didn't catch onto that. The whole NERAC conference, Daniel Knopp kept on referencing that magazine during his segment on photography and European reef keeping. He practically takes the cover shot for every edition.

And I didn't even think to subsribe. Ack. Oh well.

I know now.

This set, they only have 3 of the 4 books available...atleast what I could find anyway. I just linked to the search page....hope it works.

Those are the books that I would suggest getting...they are packed with information, and well worth the money.

There is another one that you might look for, but it has been out of print for some time....

A Practical guide to Corals for the reef aquarium by Ed Puterbaugh and Eric Borneman.

Hey, I'm not totally opposed to it, it's just that I am scaredwhat if I kill it

First things first I have to get a job for the fall then get to reading up on it, then if all is going well, maybe the darkside will have room for me next year with my tax returns We'll see, and when the time comes I'll be the big pestfor now I'm sticking my nose into the saltie area
