A few weeks ago I noticed a few new baby snail shells in my tank and thought "Cool, a few new snails on the way!". But tonight, after the lights went out, I was shocked to find at least 50 new baby snails ALL OVER THE TANK!!!!!!!!!!
And that only took all of 30 seconds to find! I have no idea how many new snails I really have!

I couldn't beleive it.
I kept finding small baby snail shells all over the tank tonight every where I looked and thought, OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT ALL THESE BABY SNAILS!!!!!!

I must say that I'm STOKED. Ontop of that, I felt my snail population was shrinking due to my hungry reef crabs over the last year.

Any other happy moments like this out there? Go ahead and share them, I would love to hear them!

Two things recently...
Finally got a method that works to control hair algae in my tank! (involving, a yellow tang, several mitrhax crabs, a sea urchin, and a toothbrush... just taking out the liverock and dunking it in a bucket of salt water and scraping off the hair alage with a toothbrush, while keeping all the nice coraline alage), it was so nice to see every single liverock free from hair alage .
Secondly, nitrates! After at least two months of maturing my aquamedic 1000l nitrate reductor, you can see the thick layer of bacteria on all the media inside, and the nitrates have dropped down to around 3ppm in the last few days in my fairly well stocked FOWLR, and it's still going down. Not too bad considering last time I checked the tap water was around 40ppm nitrates (but using RO water of course). The rock anamonies are reproducing (well sprouting more tenticals and splitting) faster now too.

Nothing terribly exciting going on in my tanks, besides my xenias creeping out of control, but I did want to say "CONGRATS!!" on the baby snails..

May they live long and prosper

Well, my newest addition Colby has driven 2, possibly 3 of its tankmates to commit sucide. Other than that nothing really. And that isn't even good news

Well, as much as that stinks, Mike, Colby is still a pretty cool fish..... So that's good news in a round about sort of way, right??

I thought of something that made me happy in my 100gal tank (yes, I'm at work and I've got nothing better to do other than sit here and contemplate my saltwater tanks).. I noticed the other day that my coralline algae has really started to take off and alot of that Texas Holey Rock is looking pretty darn pink..

Also, another cool beans kinda thing, my husband is finally almost finished with my new canopy and I have my two new MH fixtures just waiting to be wired in *happy dance* Right now I just need to figure out how to get the little fans that are going into the sides wired in and VOILA!! Plenty of light for my fish to read by..

Yea, he is sorta cool. As you know wrasses, they can get spooked easily. Colby just moved entirely too fast for them and just wigged them out. Not aggression or anything, but when he'd randomly dart across the tank and they were out they would just shoot for the sky....unfortunally two of them made it.

I'll just have to stock fish that are more steadfast.
