Sadly, this ia an Anthias Fairy Basslet, and as such is probably a complete pig to keep even if you're an expert aquarist. But take a look at how gorgeous this fish is, and see why they're so sky-high desirable!

Bartlett's Fairy Basslet

What a pity it's likely to be a headache species needing an amphipod refugium to keep it alive ...

Bartletts anthias are not that dependant on pods for their diet....they do just fine with flake, pellet, and frozen foods. The reason that they are harder to take care of is because they require atleast 3 feedings a day...

There are other Anthias that are easier to take care of and are more adjusted to one feeding a day, such as Dispar Anthias.

Ah. Thanks for the info.

Does this apply to some of the other 'difficult' Anthias too?

And what about Mirolabrichthys tuka? I keep hearing that this is an 'impossible' species. One of those that makes even veterans tear out their hair in frustration.

The main thing when keeping anthias is to remember the feedings, AND have the tank set up with them in mind. Most Anthias will do fine if there are alot of cliffs and overhangs, non-aggressive tank mates, and frequent feedings.

The purple queen anthias is a little more picky about eating and that is one of the reasons that it is harder to keep.
