hello! i've heard varying opinions about whether clownfish (i'm thinking either skunk or percs) should be kept singly or in pairs. which is better?

either way....as long as they are the same type of clowns they will get along in a pair, or they do just as well on their own.

I think clowns are alot better in pairs. very intresting watching them interact with each other. clown pairs are like human relationships they care for each other then they get annoyed with each other very fun to watch

i have a 10G tank that currently houses one firefish and a few blue-legged hermits. i'm trying to decide what else to stock it with, and was considering adding one small clown (like a perc or a skunk) and a small goby of some type (watchman?) as well as a cleaner shrimp or two. i think two clowns would be too much for such a small tank.... wouldn't it? what do you think?

Definetely - that tank is basically stocked with the firefish and inverts.

Pink skunks are not one of the smaller clown types. Most of the pink skunks I've seen are much bigger than the more common percs and occellaris.

A 10 gallon without any other fish isn't big enough for a pair of any type of clowns IMO.

EDIT:

OH yeah, I also wanted to say my opinion for clowns is always buy in a pair if you can. As someone stated above, I think it's a lot more enjoyable to watch them interact with e/o, and observe their relationship. The larger one will be the female. It's neat.
