My stepson has offered me his marine tank (I've only kept freshwater up till now) and I'm considering it.

But would I have to use RO water, which would obviously make water changes more complicated? He doesn't use it, but we have well water. Does that make a difference?

Also, tank is currently in Rhode Island, and I live in NJ. Could the fish make it here without a problem?

What kind of marine tank is it? FO, FOWLR, or reef?

R0 or RO/DI isnt really needed, but it is a good thing to use. Tap water has all kinds of heavy metals in it, not to mention most tap water has nitrate, phosphate, and other nasties.

Just because you use ro water for water changes doesnt mean it is anymore complicated.....it will be the same, just using water that is filtered clean.

How long is the commute? I have no doubt the fish will make it, but depending on how long the commute is will determine how to "package" the fish.
