I've got a 5ftx2ftx2ft tank and would like to house a group of 3 regals (with other fish). I've only ever kept them singly and they are said to be tolerant of their own kind but has anyone housed this many and how did they get along with each other? Thanks in advance.

Well, your tank would definitly be big enoupgh. I think it could be done. In fact someone just posted a link to a photo with an aquarium in a casino with 4 or 5. I call them hippo tangs though. I think they are the same.

Wow thats bad info clownloach, i dont know where you got it from but you should check your resources before posting so defianetly.

One regal tang will grow to 12 - 15 inches over 4 - 6 years, this fish shouldn't be housed in anyhting less than a 180g. Next is the challenge of keeping them together, I had two 5 inch regal tangs in a 180 and after 5 months of peace one lashed out and killed the other overnight. There are several post on reefcentral on those who have tried to keep regal's in tanks over 300 gallons with failure.
I won't say it's impossible but a success would be an exception from the norm.

If you were to attempt it I would buy the tangs all the same size around 2 - 3 inches and have a very lighty stocked tank. I would feed heavily and use supplements to their food to keep them in prime health and be prepared to
move them at a moments notice.

Their are plenty of better schooling fish out there and i encourage you to look into them.
