Looking at doing a marine tank down the road and would like to ask 2 questions.

Would a dog-faced puffer and a lionfish (black violita sp?) be compatible in the same tank and if so...

What would be an appropriate size to handle these two guys full grown?

I am also interested in some blennies (scooter perhaps) and a wolf eel. Knowing my luck they are all not compatible but figured i would ask.

Lions get to be very large, for a full grown lion, i think a 180 would be appropriate. they need the room to turn around, a 180 will give them 24 inches, you need to think of the size of the full grown fish.

As for compatability, i think it would work from what i read, but you may want to ask one of the more expirienced people on here, such as Dark Realm Overlord.

From what i read, lions and puffers can be put together, if your talking about single specimines in a larger tank, you should be generally ok. Puffers tend to be nippy fish and if they try to nip at the lion, your going to have a problem.

Not a problem, that was why i asked about it full grown in my post. I prefer the larger tanks anyway due to the ease of water issues and i have read how the water needs even more care in a marine tank. I was reading on it and have seen them together i was just wondering if there were any reasons i should not put them together. They would be pretty equal in size to begin with from what i have seen but the lion gets rather large.

What other species would be good to put with these two guys if i went with say a 150? Or would i be pretty nearly tapped out with them in that size? Perhaps some bottom dwellers that the lion would not see as food?

eels and scorpionfish are the most commonly used bottem dwelling tank mates.
