My friend has 3 Southern KNights sea horses in a 55 litre tank with a penguin bio-wheel filter. It is a tall 30x60x30 tank.ARe there any marine live plants that can be kept easily in my tank.She has a 30cm 1 tube UV light on her tank./:'

Anything with long stems or leaves that the seahorses can cling to is relished by them, such as eel grass.

There aren't truly many live "plants" that are saltwater friendly, it's more different types of macroalgaes and stuff. Caleurpa is one you'll most commonly see in the LFS.

Do research before you buy though; caluerpa can basially be toxic if not kept correctly.

There aren't truly many live "plants" that are saltwater friendly, it's more different types of macroalgaes and stuff. Caleurpa is one you'll most commonly see in the LFS.


Eel grass is indeed a a true marine plant. Off the coasts of Florida, it forms huge underwater plains, and is the main component of the Manatee's diet.

Mangrove trees are also able to tolerate fully saline conditions.

That's why I said there aren't many. Especially in the trade. I have yet to find somewhere that readily carries eel grass.

Mangroves are a whole different story - the application of them in marine tanks is usually not for decor.
