Ok my salt has been in the tank since friday afternoon. It is a 55 gallon tank. I had a 200 gph filter to keep the salt mixing in. Then on saturday i went and got a pair of 145gph powerheads. Still 2 days later i still am not getting good readings on the specific gravity. I am using a coralife deep 6 hydrometer. Could there be a problem with that? Also i didnt know i was supposed to mix the salt outside of the tank even without fish when i filled it. Can anyone give me any help or tips to getting my readings to be where i want them or even the same every time?

I don't know if this will help much but specific gravity alters according to temperature. (I believe the deep 6 hydrometer is calibrated to read correctly around 76 degrees farenheit)Have you been experiencing temperature fluctuations?
I use the deep 6 running at 78 degrees with no probs..
Hope this helps some...

Clean the hydrometer with warm water. Also, make sure there are no bubbles in it while you are testing.

you also have to condition the deep 6 units by letting them sit with FW in them for 24 hours before the first use.....if you didnt do this then you will get wacky readings.
