I put two Peppermint shrimp in my Reef tuesday and they have been hiding out since then. Well today I saw some commotion in my tank. It was one of the shrimp swimming in the water surrounded by both clowns my Royal Gramma and my Bangii Cardinal. They were all picking at him and he was trying to get away. I used a glass scraper to chase them off and he went to hide in the rocks.

I know that the Bangii will eat him if he can, but the clowns and RG surprised me. They are all well fed so I can see no reason they would pick at a shrimp.

Kevin, RG's are known to eat shrimp if they can get them in their mouths. The only fish that suprise me are the clowns...

Hmm weird maybe this is like when you put feeders in a oscar tank and the oscars leave one alone, after a while the feeder starts to attack things just like the oscars.

They are a mated pair of Occ's The only thing I can figure is that since the shrimp was close to the Anemone they are hosting in they got protective.

Another thing of note. yesterday I was working in the thank around the Anemone, which is also close to the RGs cave. Well the Clowns ignored me for the most part but the RG took 3 or 4 snaps at me. I was wearing gloves but still felt it when he struck. He may be getting a bit to aggressive for the tank. If I have to I will get him out in the changeover and replace him with a smaller one.

Another ammusing fact. I have a purple Pseudochromis in the tank that he completely ignores.
