Hi all.
I want to know if a Picasso Triggerfish is save in a reef setup. The lfs has one in their reef setup, but I was warned by another person that this will change as the fish gets older. My reef setup currently have a carpet, sun polyp and mushrooms, but I will be adding leathers, open brains ect. will this be a problem? My tank size is 325l, with tangs and clowns and damsels.

I would not consider that trigger reef safe.

There are some that will be okay with corals, even SPS, but I'm 99% sure the picasso is not one of them.

Their temper usually grows with age---take caution.

Picaso is not reef safe, if you want a trigger fish i would go with the Niger Trigger they are reef safe.

Niger Trigger they are reef safe

Nigers are MORE reef safe than others and less aggressive, but they (IMO) are not a true reef safe trigger. They will do fine with most corals and even shrimp if the shrimp is added before the trigger.

The only triggers that are considered reef safe are the Pinktail Trigger, Bluechin Trigger, Sargassum Trigger, and my favorite but most expensive.......the Crosshatch Trigger

I second the pinktail and bluechin, as a couple in my reef club has kept them in their 400 gallon tank for probably years now. And what a beautiful display. [link=http://www.acropora.net]http://www.acropora.net" style="COLOR: #3c4e82[/link]

I wouldn't trust a Niger trigger in a reef, unless you have money to throw out the window.
